Deer around here prefer edge habitat. They do not do well in vast open
grasslands (unlike some species that do) nor in hevay woodland. So what you
are creating is ideal habitat. Patches of woodland. Open ways through the
orchard, and those yummy fruit trees to nibble on. So left alone you might
actually see the deer population increase.

Thanks Chris
Is there some kind of local resource that might give an indication of
the scale of the problem? we've only been there for 10 days and have yet
to see nay deer, but the previous occupiers (all pasture) tolde me that
they occasionally had muntjac. I've joined FWAG but they won't have
anyone available to talk to me till April.
