RE: NOMENCLATURE

On the subject of this 'arb' word that Joe Public have difficulties
with, heres a classic:-

"Arbolist....look up the word. I don't know, maybe I made it up. Anyway,
it's an arbo-tree-ist, somebody who knows about trees." George W. Bush
2001

Whilst I'm at it heres another beaut from one of his predecessors whilst
commenting on US forestry policy:-

"A tree is a tree - how many more do you need to look at?" Ronald
Reagan, Governor of California.

As an aside, an old work colleague of mine took up studying
arboriculture to supplement his profession in countryside management.
Looking for rigid and purely objective guidance in tree hazard
assessment, recommendations and amenity evaluation etc. he came to the
conclusion that 'arbitraryculture' may be a more apt term.

Happy New Year....well almost

As most of my clients can't even pronounce 'Arboriculturist'
Liriodendron is a non-starter.

Speaking as an arboriologist on the subject of nomenclature,.... did you
see
the kids spelling contest on the TV tonight? One of the unfortunates got
nomenclature to spell,...... and failed.

Some hope the arborcologicalist then.
