Jim's comments reminded me about my dealings with some local journalists a
while back. When I got married my wife and I attracted a certain amount of
interest in the local papers - long story as to why!
The journalists rung both of us separately and from their questions it was
clear that they had a story in mind before hearing ours. We both had to
fight to get our points across and they printed their slant on it anyway.
Resulting in some funny headlines e.g. "wedding bells for battling Devon
couple" - I've never battled anything and that makes it sound as if we
fought a lot.
The point being they often want a slant and they will find the evidence to
support that. Trust them not. For those interested there is a website
called www.medialens.org that claims to point out bias n certain parts of
the media - agree with it or not but it is very interesting and they put
forward strong arguments.
