I have also been told that it is therefore acceptable to fell 5 cubic
meters on 31st March and then another 5 cubic meters on 1st April. No
April fool!

Subject: Re: Felling Licence - a calender quarter
On 04/01/06 Dom asked:
Does the requirement to fell no more than 5m3 in any one calendar
quarter mean a specific time period e.g. Jan to end March, April to end
June or does it mean in any three month period? We have several
opinions in this office.<<<
Dom
The Forestry Commission's leaflet 'Tree Felling - Getting Permission'
(link below) has a footnote that indicates it's a specific time (1 Jan
to 31 March etc). The relevant legal source is section 9(3)(b) and (6)
of the Forestry Act 1967.
