Dear All Can anyone help regarding a spec. for a bracing system for a multi-stem Walnut. There are around 10 stems, more or less in a circle and between 250 & 350mm dia. @ the optimum bracing height. I believe there is a thing called a 'Ring' brace where you have a central collar with the braces emanating from it. Has anyone had experience of this (or other appropriate system), and is it difficult to set up? & who would supply the gear? Any help much appreciated Robert @RGS
Robert,
You could try box or rotary cabling - all the stems are linked by a
circumferential ring of cables, with additional cables between opposite
stems, using normal cabling techniques. David Lonsdale, in 'Principles
of Tree Hazard Assessment and Management' describes it on p215/6, but to
be honest it does look pretty unsightly.
