2.Chainsaws that run on fresh air

3.A Planning system that gives protected trees priority over new development

4.X-ray vision for all Arbs

5.Serious government action to improve the environment - not just political
sound bites

6.More funding for proactive tree management

There is always some sort of '100 greatest ...' list out at the end of a year
so I thought this would be a good time to suggest an Arb related one.

I'm wondering what would be the most popular new things people would want in
Arboriculture. I've got a few suggestions myself to start the ball rolling.

1. I'm hoping that DCLG might wake up on Jan 1st and decide to increase their
research funding from a paltry £60,000 to somewhere near the £13 million
enjoyed by the Forestry Commission.

2. Creation of a Tree Commission.

3. Finding out for certain if subsidence is caused by trees.

4. Less paperwork!

5. Statutory protection for all trees.

I'm sure there are less dull suggestions out there.

Happy Christmas and thanks to everyone for your help and insights and
different perspectives over the past year.

John
