I thought the cut was called a pleach which enabled you to bend the stem
hence "Laid"

To me it has always been "laid", my old fella taught me to lay
"Radnorshire" and "Staffordshire Bullock" when I was in my teens to earn
cider money and keep me off the streets (the streets of Mid Wales are
dead tough y'know).

Good question Bill, I have always called it a 'layed' hedge.

Right ho,
How do people refer to the art of 'Hedge Laying?' I mean is it a 'laid'

hedge or 'layered?' Or should I just say 'pleached?'

'Layering' to me is a propogation technique, but my hedgerow books are a
bit
vague so perhaps it's a localised thing.

Thanks as ever.

Bill.
