Dunno about arbs but from a forestry view the pole saw is a beautiful tool
for brashing a stand of soft wood, in my opinion.

I personally, would never use a pole saw. I have in the past and they are
fairly impractible. OK, you can remove branches from the ground, but at the
cost of making messy cuts. Often not a target pruning cut and as someone
previously mentioned, causing the branch to twist, tear and trap the saw.
Why not climb the tree and cut the branch with a hand saw or your trusty,
accurate 020? (MS200T before anyone comments). It is what tree surgeons do,
afterall.

Never used them but a few years ago there used to be a bloke who turned up

Don't seem to have seen him in a while but you could perhaps investigate
Ian.
