We often discuss or are asked what are our favourite trees and Pissardii
and Kanzan always get a mention. Its common to meet arbs who have a
bias against certain trees (Euc hating types).

This stems from seeing a tree planted too frequently or in the wrong
context. Or planted too frequently and subject to poor management - I'm
thinking pissardii here. The right plant in the right place can remove
these blinkered views. A local pissardii is a fantastic tree - because
its only one amongst other trees and not been mutilated. An untouched
specimen kanzan can be a pretty sight as well.

I personally have a problem with aucuba japonica especially Golden
spangles. But see it in the right place and it is a fine shrub. So I
think Ian you are separating poor planting from species prejudice.
