I subscribe to a plant forum that includes many members in California.

This was a recent message from someone there:

<<We drove across San Francisco last Friday morning and saw many broken or
uprooted trees. We had to detour from our planned route due to a tree that
had fallen across the road on top of a utility pole - branches and dangling
wires everywhere. A number of the broken trees were Blackwood acacias. They
are prone to wind damage if not pruned to thin their naturally thick mass of
branches.
The wildest story I heard was of a woman driving along a wide street in SF,
nearly the only car on the road. She felt her car shudder, looked back and
saw a tree, roots and all, blowing down the road in hot pursuit. She had to
gun the engine to avoid being rear-ended by the tree!>>

Any info/comments from UKTC people over there?

Peter
