1App - Going live in April

Does anybody on the forum have experience of piloting the forms (either
administering or completing and getting validated) that are coming into
place this spring?

If so, how pedantic have administrators been over issues such as
requirement for a scaled plan with accurately plotted trees for all
householder applications where trees or hedges (?) are within falling
distance of the property boundary concerned? Is it possible to waive such
'standard requirements' and use some common sense when dealing with drop
kerbs and the like when there are no trees within X distance of proposed
development?

Have any LA Tree Officer groups come up with a standard tree survey
requirements list for the 'local requirements'? Seems like a great
opportunity for industry/national standardisation? Why would different
Authorities look to re-invent the wheel and come up with different
approaches? Are we looking for a verbatim regurgitation from the current
BS5837 or something more realistic, yet universally acceptable, when asking
for surveys in relation to extensions and the like with no trees subject of
controls? Can we agree as an industry a graded level of requirement
dependant on the scale of development?

The administrators here at Waverley are still of a mind that the 1APP
treework forms will also be coming into practice (despite my protestations
and the ongoing re-drafting and wait for new regulations previously
highlighted on this forum by Steve at DCLG). Has there been any press
releases in this respect (for or against this way forward) that I have
missed?

Sorry about the vexed nature of the post, but internal 'consultation' on
this important issue has not been all it should be and I am desperate to
ensure that we get a workable and reasonable approach on the tree issues
that hopefully is supported regionally/nationally.

Regards

Andy
