Chris
Our policy is to only reply in writing to a request in writing (saves on
paper for one!).
A letter without a plan will also include the following paragraph:
This advice is given based on the information held by this Council,
which does not reveal the actual boundaries of each property. For an
accurate search for tree controls on your land, it would be necessary
for you to supply a plan clearly showing the curtilage of your property,
with the position of the trees in question also indicated.
Problems can arise if boundaries change and OS have not updated.

Subject: TPO request
Hello all,
Just a quick question about requesting if a tree has a TPO........
If i have Mrs bloggs and we want to do some work to her tree, we email
or phone tree officer / planning to find out if said tree has a TPO,
what we want is conformation by email or letter if the tree is subject
to a TPO... We find this hard with some councils, surely it is not to
much to ask for a small conformation - this letter / email would be kept
on file with job details etc to prove of no TPO on trees we work on.
Any comments are appreciated on or off forum and of course details of
your particular policy
C Jackson
