After many years of working in the highway I'm of the opinion that all
learner drivers should be made to stand in a set of roadworks for half
an hour whilst idiot drivers scream by at high speed; might make them
realise how fast 60mph really is from the viewpoint of a stationary
stop/go controller... also teaching people that a sign saying STOP in
big letters means, er, STOP YOUR B***DY CAR NOW would be a good thing,
and would save my vocal chords no end of pain as I scream futile abuse
at their rapidly vanishing vehicle.
