Keith, in my day you could get insurance job by job; you knew the premium,
and simply costed it in when quoting. I never did it this way myself but a
landscaper I subbied for when he got treework used this arrangement. I
would have thought you might have more luck looking at those that insure
landscapers, than the specialists that service our fulltime tree
contractors, though you would surely ask them as well.
And yes, I'm sure its relatively far more costly than a proper tree work
insurance, but if its job by job, you pass that on.
Edmund
Quoting Keith Kennaugh <treecare@xxxxxxxxxxx.com>:
I have now finished the main project I was on, and I am now wondering
whether I should get back into doing trees.
Insurance has always been the bugbear. I've always found it is so
expensive
that you have to work full on and flat out to justify having it.
The simple fact is that I don't want to be doing tree work full time, but
I'm yet to find an insurer that has premiums to reflect that.
Anyone got any suggestions?
