RE: FORGOTTEN RPA SHAPES

Andy asked: Simon, how much building are they doing in Bradford?

I think I'm correct in that the Government has recommended that planning
officers should have a case load of about 150 applications per year.
Bradford's POs do around 230, and we have around 30 POs (possibly more).

After a count I was consulted on 390 applications last year and this year
have been a consultee on 53 since 1st Jan 08, which is why I don't have the
time to be educating the private sector on the BS. Which, due to my
recommendations, is why out validation teams are now accepting proposals
without a tree survey provided trees are accurately plotted on a plan and
accurate crown spreads shown overlaid on development proposals.

At least if I don't see a bad tree survey I'll have less time to whinge about
it!

I am with Bill on this one, you go onto a green field site and they ask you
for the RPA of all the trees and you have no idea what they plan, (it
happens)
so circles get drawn if no canals roads, etc.

Next they come back and say, can you squeeze me a metre here and there and
you look and make an assessment, if you can you do based on your experience
and
knowledge, etc. if its a non starter you tell them that also. My view is
that the circle is a starting point, as they say rules are for the obeyance
of
etc. Unless you have stuff on the ground already I don't see how you can
come
up with polygons as a starting point

Simon, how much building are they doing in Bradford?

Andy
