I think the Southwood paper only referred to the leaves did it not?
Hence the tediously repeated slagging of Celtic maple which is in fact a
great tree for native biodiversity.

Tables like the one in your link are not without value, but it is
important to note the numerous provisos that are given beneath, not
least the limitations of the original Southwood paper.
Some native trees host very modest numbers of invertebrates, some
exotics rather more. Sycamore for example is awarded 15 insects, but
this must exclude saproxylics, which were studied in Witham Woods and
totals of 108 species were identified on canopy trees, and 142 in the
understorey.
Its likely too that the diversity count for insects will in turn be
influenced by other things growing on trees, such as Ganodermas, which
host all sorts of invertebrates.
