<The NPTC only issue certificates of competence to individuals, not
companies or firms. Therefore, the best they could say is that their staff
are qualified to NPTC standards. To say they are approved is stretching it
a bit. Local Trading Standards departments operate the 'Buy with Confidence
Scheme 'whereby individuals, companies or firms are vetted, and if they make
the grade, they are allowed to enter the 'Buy With Confidence' register.
This could be deemed as being approved by the Trading Standards, but 'Buy
With Confidence Members' are allowed to use a specific logo to advertise the
fact. So if there was no logo, they probably aren't approved.>
Thanks Mark (and Chris)
I thought the same and knew what you said but, in the fast moving world of
arboriculture, it pays to check these things!
So, how should our representative professional bodies deal with this issue?
How can we inform the public and media of the true meaning of these claims?
How can we dispel such myths and raise our profile - virtually free of
charge?
A press release............?
