Good to hear that the AA is developing the TrustMark system.
However, you miss my main point.

A well written Press Release does not necessarily have to name or 'slag off'
any of these other 'titles'. It's a promotional tool.
Once the TrustMark system is in place will the AA promote it?

Peter

The AA is developing the government's TrustMark system for arboriculture.
This will provide a nationally recognised benchmark available to contractors
who for whatever reason don't want to become Approved.
It is taking a little while because the AA has to load up various baggage
first, e.g. Investors in People.
Long-winded and not cheap, but we believe essential as this will be the
first standard that the general public might understand.
Peter, it is virtually impossible to "slag off" the meaningless titles as
one instantly becomes swamped in a cat's cradle of red tape. This ranges
from the inference of approval or registration, right through to the "Guild
of Master Craftsmen"*, and to outright lying.
Our successful prosecutions for misuse of the AA logo by two contractors
took YEARS!
Cheers,
Jim

* before any lawyers call me this is from my having received an application
form from them - which on reading makes no mention of standards whatsoever!
(Thinks ... were they prompted to send the application to me by Thurman????)
