Well you know I wouldn't want to make a big thing of it, but I will say
it does no harm to think outside the conventions. Maybe Dr Dunster has a
picture of one in all its blasted glory.

There was a landscape movement in the 18th/19th centuries called the
picturesque. Uvedale Price would appreciate this sort of tree.

That sounds great, though some would argue that ragged ends are 
unsightly and ask for them to be cut back (The Tidiness Brigade, what 
we call uneducated Cllrs). It needs a name Edmund and with a few 
examples in the AA Newsletter for this one to catch on.
