A lot of land agents hereabouts seem to have 'Poll' burnt into their
flesh and would like to get rid of trees rather than inspect them.

Well call me a small animal if you will, but like many a pine marten
I could point you to a few tens of thousand of trees on which 50p a
year would be a gross waste of money.
This highlights a large misconception jerry; the most common tree in
Britain according to Mitchell is the Sitka Spruce, but most urban Arbs
rarely come across one. According to TIT2 the most common tree is
Leyland Cypress.... I imagine Simon is thinking that spending 50p on a
Chanticleer Pear in a street is hardly too onerous, however spending
50p per tree on 100 million Sitka Spruce is just a massive waste, er;
innit?
Bill.
My point exactly Bill!
Metrocentrism!
And it's not just Sitka plantations - There are plenty of fine native
trees in rural locations where any risk is vanishingly small; also where
they're undervalued by their owners, who would rather be rid of them
then have to spend money on getting them professionally checked every 5
years.
