TREES: THE KEY TO CLIMATE PROOFING OUR CITIES- London, 10th July 2008.
A 10% increase in urban tree cover could neutralise rising city
temperatures, but large trees with irreplaceable climate-control benefits
are being lost at an alarming rate. This pioneering conference explores
practical possibilities to reverse tree loss within current planning
framework. It can be done: our objective is to define how to do it. FINAL

I think you've got to assume that applied properly, and as a one off then
such a treatment isn't going to be a big deal. However we regularly see
chemicals applied around trees several times a year and then for decades
ever
after..... I suspect this is where our true problems lie and we would all do
well
to try and get away from these regimes. I regularly seem to be pointing out
that it can't possibly be correct to be treating trees in the same way we
tree
lamp posts, post boxes and the like. Trees ought not to be regarded as just
another item of street furniture.....

And thank you to Anthony, for sharing your greater (well than mine anyway)
knowledge of this subject once again.
