Not sure specifically if this is common, however in an article in the
Horticulturalist (Volume 17 No.3 Summer 2008) there is an article by Dominic
Cole (Landscape Architect) regarding trees and buildings. I will happily
scan the item and post it here if you wish. This article makes mention of
the NHBC standard being used to assess the impact of and in some cases to
justify removal of existing trees to facilitate new build.
The mind boggles!
