Quoting Mark Carter <mjc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk>:

Given the recent comments made on this forum with regard to the technical
competence of a Chartered Arboriculturist who would not join the AA, it
just
goes to show that that you can find consultants capable of giving
'unimpressive and unpersuasive' evidence in the ranks of any professional
body.

Chartered Arboriculturist, Chartered Surveyor
& Arboricultural Consultant

Hi Mark.

Does it not also raise a question as to the procedures and checks the
awarding body has adopted in order to legitimately change the professional
status of an individual from forester to arboriculturist: I had a quick look
on the ICF website for information about the new designation of chartered
arboriculturist and found very little except a truncated news item
referring to a self assessment form to be held on file.

To this outsider it would seem appropriate to award the title to those of
you that have come through the relatively recent examination process with
its arboricultural options, but give very close scrutiny to those whose
membership predates that exam process, and set out the terms of scrutiny in
a public place, i.e the website.
