Hi Nick,
Tree tags tend to come off and they are an extra expense. Most people don't
bother these days and just use a software package that links to GIS. That
said, I'm doing a job at the mo where we are required to affix each tag with
a 4 inch long screw which we do with a battery powered hammer drill thingy.
They go in no prob. We have to leave between 150mm and 300mm for the tree to
grow. The people who do the reinspects have to unscrew any tags that are too
tight. (This is in Frankfurt by the way, where the trees have to be looked at
twice a year and money seems to be no problem to get hold of)
Why do you need to put tags on in the first place?
Simon Valente.

Morning all
Just after a consensus on the most sustainable way to affix tree
numbers/tags. I am finding that in many cases girth expansion is pushing
the
tags off of the small nails we currently use in very short time, even if
the
nails are left proud. How do others do it? I have noted several different
approaches from staples through to 3" nails!
Thanks
Nick
