These regulations come into force on 1 October.
The last time I saw Peter Annett I got the impression that they wouldn't
meet the deadline. I also got the impression that the Blue Book would need to
be
updated before any of it could be enacted.
I note that Dr Tom Simpson of DCLG will be speaking at 10.15 AM on the first
day of the AA Conference (September 15th, a fortnight today in fact) This is
a bit of a nuisance as I've had to make arrangements to leave on Sunday to
get there in time for his presentation.....
You will gather from that that I consider it to be very important in respect
of what I do on a day-to-day basis and while I know that most subscribers to
the UKTC will be running with the baton firmly grasped and understood from
whenever it does come into force, I do fear that those LAs who flatly refuse
to employ Tree Officers will use it as another wall to hide behind; another
way to make life difficult for tree owners....
No doubt we shall see.
Bill.
PS if you're going and haven't booked your train ticket yet, I tried to book
via some ticket website or other and they wanted me to set off on Saturday
to be there in time for the kick off, I guess Canterbury must be somewhere
beyond Pluto..... So I'll be driving despite my carbon footprint's good
intentions.
