When I worked in NZ we came across this a lot, a fast grower and a fast
decayer, lots of bad forks, with a strong tendency to drop big limbs,
come I seem to remember where also full of thorns.

just on the off chance - does anyone have any experience of growth
rates,
stability, decay resistance of Erythrina variegata (coral tree) in the
tropics?
