The instructions on the Ginkgo seed I bought at the shop in Kew states:

"seeds can be started indoors ANY TIME throughout the year. Rough the
hazelnut seized seeds slightly with sandpaper and leave them to soak in
water at room temperature overnight. Place the moist seed starting soil
afterwards and cover them thinly with soil. With temperatures about 20 to 25
C germination follows within 3 to 4 weeks. Cooler temperatures often lead to
a doubling of the germination time"

Why there is a reference to hazelnuts when the seed is in the packet in
front of me I don't know; the strange English is I assume because it has
been translated from German.

Do these instructions work? I have no idea - the seed is still in the
plastic bag I bought them in in February!
