So the compact OED defines frass 1. as powdery refuse produced by wood boring
insects. This is not desperately similar from a definition culled from the
future OED (2025) defining frass 2. as powdery refuse produced by wood boring
tools. Language evolves through nuance and misuse, and day to day chat should
not be subjected to the same rigour that is properly applied to scientific
discussion (or should it?).
