If it's pure consultancy I would say it comes under the section Professional
or Business Services. This includes IT consultants, Architects, Civil
engineers, Structural engineers and Surveyors. I went for Business services
not listed elsewhere and they accepted it fine in 2004. They have also
recently accepted it as I've changed from sole trader to limited company. It
was 11% but with the new vat rate it is currently 9.5% until December 2009.

Hope that helps
Barry

Dear All,
Here's one for the consultants who are VAT registered on the Flat Rate
Scheme: what percentage or sector have you chosen and did HMRC accept it
without question?

Regard and merry Christmas

Luke
