Havn't followed the thread - so sorry if I'm repeating others. Essex County
Council's orders date back to 1949 and we have 24 'Parkland Orders' ('P')
-all made in the late 40's & early 50's.
We treat them in the same way as the 'area' classification - that is they
protect(?)all trees that were present when the order was made. We've not re-
classified as 'areas' - they're still 'parklands'.

Morning all and sundry.
I have a TPO with a designation that says; P1-Parkland area of mixed
coniferous and hardwood trees and shrubs.
Obviously a very venerable TPO but has anyone else heard of this
designation and does it have the support of the current model order as I
can find no reference.
I tested Charles Mynors knowledge of this issue before Christmas, and he
said he wasn't aware of it. South Oxfordshire has some of these and they are
clearly labelled Parkland Areas and I guess buried deep in the laws, rules
and regulations "Parkland Areas" may have become "Areas" but I haven't
tracked the evidence down yet.
If you have a "Parkland Area" TPO established in the late 1940s or possibly
early 1950s that only covers the trees that were in existence at the time
(which I assume is the case if the transition from Parkland Area to Area
occurred) you might have an interesting time trying to prosecute! However if
you were to try to serve a new TPO, as I questioned in an earlier posting,
would you not have to establish that the trees were under some form of
threat?
