It is interesting you should mention this bit about reinspection, we have
now completed 5 years of study with thermal imaging looking at rate of
progression of dysfunction/decay. There is a wide range of rates and for
some trees 1 year was barely enough for others 5 years was ample. I am also
looking to publish this data.

I am thoroughly enjoying this debate but can't help but contrast it with the
exhortation I see all too often in reports that all the trees on site must
hereafter be inspected annually by an expert, no matter that they may be
young vigorous and a long way from, well, anywhere. What I wonder will it
take to dissuade these experts?

Needless to say I always advise that there is no basis for the annual
inspection mantra.
