Durability of Ailanthus

Subject: Durability of Ailanthus

I've recently surveyed a Tree of Heaven in a playground. It has large
cavities at the base of tall and heavy crown stems and so it needs work to
reduce the risk of failure. As its in a prominent location, and there is a
drive to improve the atmosphere of the park, I've thought about suggesting
that it is sculpted to create an attractive feature of interest. However I'm
a little concerned that the wood will be soft to sculpt and may rapidly
decay. Does anyone have any comments on the durability of Ailanthus?

Cheers,

Ben
