Yesterdays European storms were caused by severe (supercell) thunderstorms,
which produced flash flooding, large diameter hail, lightning and violent
winds (and tornadoes). Not dissimilar to the showers and thunderstorms we
have been experiencing here in the UK since our brief summer ended back in
June, except the continental land mass enables the development of much larger
and more powerful summer storms.

Reports from Poland say that at least 7 people have been killed, most of
them by falling trees. Looks like a big storm past through and lots of trees
went over. Not sure how many trees but its reported to be in the 100s.
Trains have been derailed, roads closed power lines down. You know how it
goes.
