Subject: Sooty moulds versus Black mould

Hello all,

Is anyone out there an expert on moulds?

I need to know if typical black mould (Apergillus niger) can be linked
to aphid secretions (ie. honeydew).

My internet googling suggests that what I observe on honeydew is 'sooty
mould' normally of the genera Cladosporium, Aureobasidium,
Antennariella, Limacinula, Scorias, and Capnodium.

I can't find any link to Aspergillus and honeydew.

I have a number of Horse Chestnut and most notable a Lime being accused
of causing acute asthma from Aspergillus spores but can't find a link
between the trees and the fungus.

Any help or pointers gratefully recieved.

Alex
