Dear Thermography-Discussing-Arborists,

Marcus Bellett-Travers mentions the following about Giorgio Catena and
the Tree Thermography trials in the Netherlands, and I quote:"He
carried out a trial in Holland that went badly wrong with perfectly
healthy, large trees being felled in a similar way to the PICUS in the
US."

The part about Giorgio doing Tree Thermography trials in the
Netherlands is correct. I was the Arborist involved with these trials
in The Netherlands at that time. The whole part about "badly wrong with
perfectly healthy, large trees being felled" is NOT true. All the trees
Giorgio did Thermography on were already marked to be taken down! In no
case did Giorgio condemn any tree to be felled based on his
Thermography findings in Holland!!!

You see, the key is the fact that in Holland it were trials! We wanted
a chance to evaluate Tree Thermography so that is why we looked for
trees that had to be taken down anyway, so we could compare
Thermography findings with the actual status of the tree by cutting it
down immediately after Thermography. These trials were public, well
announced, with many interested attendees, and held at four different
locations throughout our small country.

So, no egg on my face!
