£50 where? Stump, roadside, dockside, delivered? I bet the forestry sector
goes down the pub as well

Now then, eyup etc.
Across the park from our premises there is a small patch of woodland, mainly
Ash with some Sycamore and Beech. It's currently being thinned by a processor
and some smallish timber is coming out. Rumour has it, and that's rumour from
the forestry sector not the pub, that this is going to France as firewood!
Rumour further has it that this is fetching 50 quid a tonne. I dunno what
"bois de chauffage" is fetching in France but this strikes me as somewhat
bizarre, especially when there seems to be something of a firewood shortage
hereabouts.
Of course it might be wrong but I just thought some of us might be intrigued
by this snippet.
