In Wales, the Assembly Goverment are proposing to merge the FC with
the the Countryside Council for Wales and the Environment Agency, so I
don't hold any hopes of urban forestry/ arboriculture being given a
high priority. In my view, there would be a better chance if the FC
were to remain independent. The FC have been heavily involved in urban
forestry projects, such as Treegeneration and if independent will
probably continue, what with the policies in Woodlnds for Wales
strategy, encouraging urban tree planting. However, by being diluted
by merging with other organisations doesn't bode well for urban
forestry/ arboriculture in Wales IMHO, as I can't see the EA and CCW
(apart from a few officers) being interested.

Cheers

I sure hope so! it would be good for the professional survival of
all and
draw the silvicultural and arboricultural worlds under one roof,
which is
where we all should be anyhow?
I am ordinarily with FC Wales (but have been off for a year now) and
have no
doubt we could offer the same to Wales et al.
watch this space but dont hold your breath mate

Ben,
Do you think that they'll start to employ professional
arboriculturists
other than your good self and offer urban tree management services
to LAs
who'd like to contract them out?
