Tom, I've never heard of that before. The UKTC has educated me once again!
Thanks

Hi Alistair
Leaves once detached from the twig are regarded in law as a "wild thing"
similar to cats which are not bound under the ownership of the owner when
they free to roam around (dogs are the opposite - the owner has a duty of
responsibility for a dog if its roaming out and about) and cause a problem.

Subject: Common law and leaves
Morning folks
Can anyone tell me whether fallen leaves from encroaching branches are
considered to remain under the ownership of the tree owner? If they are, can
they be reasonably given back to the owner (if you were like that!)?. Our
Mynors is in a box somewhere after our office move so can't look anything up
at the moment.
Cheers
