Hi Rob,

This has been postured by myself as people often ask if we can provide
that service. The backstop however, is that we don't have enough
resources to do our own work so, it's not a viable proposition here ...
Those thoughts aside though, we do continue to provide an arb
consultancy service to the local Housing Organisation, which separated
off from the Council as a Trust some years back. This is quite lucrative
... not from a financial position as such, but because it allows us to
retain a tree contractor to cover both works to our own trees and to the
Housing Trust on a more stable basis by way of the number of days they
are operating in our interests and, available for emergencies. This will
most likely soon stop though as the Trust have put their tree contract
out for tender. The government were keen for Las to sell out services
but nobody has any spare capacity now since all the cuts ...

Ron

Subject: Councils Carrying Out Tree Inspections on Private Land

Good morning,

I was wondering if any Councils carry out tree inspections on private
land?

This is something that has been proposed at our place and I am just
seeing what the general situation at other authorities. The proposal is
that we would carry out inspections on private trees, for a fee and as
long as the trees are not covered by any statutory protection.

Any info would be gratefully received.

Regards

Rob Toll
