One query it raised with me was its reference to Biscogniauxia nummularia;
which I see around quite a lot, but have never associated with the strip
cankers it mentions? Perhaps 'cos I'm in the soft and humid SW of England$FILE/fcrn004.pdf
As it has several macroscopical look-a-likes among the Pyrenomycetes on
beech, did you check your findings of B. nummularia microscopically ? Even in
the "soft and humid" Netherlands, it is extremely rare, it has only been
found twice in 1988 and 1990 and has not been found ever since.
