My son, who's now 28, had IIRC a character called Kipper in his learn-to-read 
books, I suppose in the 80/90s "Dick" would have been too much. Going on the 
stuff I hear my neighbours' children shouting at each other as they play 
football in the garden, they must now start with back issues of Viz! 

"Halcyon days" Ian? That's surely a term coined by the blissed-out "E" 
generation....... Did you hear the item on the news this morning about our 
mental faculties starting to become impaired from 45 onwards? No? Perhaps I 
imagined it.
