Sorry haven't been following this so may be repetition, but Alan Mitchell 
used to call them apartment blocks for birds, but hey, maybe he was wrong.
Also with enough space they make a magnificent tower of greenery, but they 
are massive and certainly not appropriate for the average garden (the oldest 
surviving trees are still growing so no-one knows how big they get), so they 
need LOTS of room. Most are ill managed or inappropriately sited. Hugely 
overplanted, 99.999% have little or nothing to offer and would much better be 
something (anything!) else. However, IF appropriately placed and in the 
absence of other treecover, of course they are TPOable.

They offer NOTHING to wildlife bar a pigeon or magpie roost/nest site.

gregarious nesting species such as house sparrows (which are
incidentally in decline).
