I've heard of a creditor owed money by a punter in a gated development
turning up early in the morning, chaining the gates shut and explaining
politely to all the neighbours trying to get out to work exactly why he
had done it. Apparently all sorts of threats were made and the police
were called but declined to take action on the grounds that it was a
civil matter that didn't affect the public highway. Having made the
point he let them out and was paid very quickly afterwards. 

Might be apocryphal but it amused me
