There's still provision for areas in the Schedule but it now seems to
want us to think about groups instead and to be a bit more thoughtful
... How many of you have been doing that anyway ... By naming the
species intended to be covered rather than "the trees of whatever
species"? I've bee experimenting with terms over the last couple of
years and have done areas that refer to Ash, Oak and Filed Maple
including Hawthorn understory.

Oh, was it not? Although clearly Areas being mentioned in the model
order does clarify the matter.
I wondered if the antipathy towards "Area" orders was being nailed down.
I think it would be a mistake if they did remove this emergency
facility, although I would like to see them time-expired in some way,
just to force LPAs to go back and properly consider what exactly they
wanted to protect...
