All in all, the whole response to the event seems to have been amazingly
sensible and (without, of course, wishing to stereotype anyone) bluff
and down to earth: .“It’s ridiculous, but these things happen" "It’s an
act of God.these things happen" "you have insurance for these things.”
Can you imagine how the residents of, say, Esher would have reacted? (
“You have lawyers for these things.”)
