good psylocibin on the playing fields at Newton Rigg too!(so they tell me
anyhow)

And Steve Hillage.

This thread seems to have moved away from the title but, to bring it
back a bit and pick up this other recurring theme...

Many years ago I too was aware of the Psilocybe group but never
discovered P. cyanascens (the Blue Wavy). This 'shroom is still
classed as rare in Phillips but I don't think it is anymore.

It grows profusely on woodchip which we recommend for stressed trees,
compacted sites, general mulching for new trees, etc..

As many of you know loads of mushies grow on the woodchip pile/mulched
beds, and I'm sure I'm not alone in not knowing what a lot of them are
(shame on me/us).
I heard about this feature through some reading last October and
thought I'd check it out. So I went to my local arboretum and within
40m of my car (the very first mulched area I came across) I found a
patch of 200 or more.

Next year I'll be looking more closely, but I strongly suspect they
are now very common indeed.
Whether they're developing mycorrhizal associations (Thuja canadensis
in this case) I don't know.
Again.

Regards,

Bill
