When we planted trees in the verges on highways the HA always provided
us with a guide on species that are acceptable over various services
and, Hornbeam was always described as a favourite being described as
having shallow non invasive roots. We were also allowed to plant Apple
and a few others. That aside I would suggest that the presence of
services is a poor excuse for not landscaping a site with some trees
and, is contrary to policies in the NPPF. The argument on that basis
being that the development is therefore poor design!

Subject: Tree planting near sewers
A new one for me, I hesitate to say, but I have just had a landscaping
DOC application that effectively offers very little new tree planting on
a development of 44 dwellings citing the document "Adoption of Sewers"
as the reason why they can't. Can anyone offer any advice please?
