Hello UKTC,
A shamefully long time lurker looking for your assistance through, as ever,
ignorance. I send photos in the next few posts.
I have an exposed site with a wide variety of generally small trees. Except
for some Buddleia every tree on the site has leaf damage, what I might call
'shotholing', although they are by no means regimented holes . Trees
affected include: Aesculus, Populus, Corylus, Betula, Acer (Sycamore, Norway
Maple and Snake Bark Maple), Pyrus, Crataegus. I have looked over the leaves
and found several possibilities: aphid, caterpillars and yellow 'fluffy' 1mm
long sections against the axils. In conclusion I am , as ever hoping that
you may have some suggestions of a reason for such damage in such a wide
variety of species, that will at least focus my search for appropriate
clues.
Your help would be much appreciated. Many thanks,
Jonathan Finlow
