Nice picture Bill. North East Yorkshire coast, taken at Hayburn/Cloughton
Wyke, along the Cleveland Way perhaps?

Now does this crown shape predict the direct of airflow over the cliff edge,
adapting its growth at the tail end within an 'eddy'. Do trees ultimately
modify airflow for their own means, for example to enhance or reduce
transpiration throughout the crown to cool effectively, or resist
desiccation. Lots of stuff on leaf shape and size affecting aerodynamics and
reasons why. The crown shape may have a part to play, where some trees
survive better in groups rather than individually grown as specimens which
are less capable, becoming problematic as they mature in the urban
environment.

Sorry don't know where the photo went. I've attached it this time.

Bill.
