Deer fencing, if over 2m height, will require planning permission,
irrespective of the AONB ... I've just asked our specialist planning
technician as we have AONB here in Mole Valley!

SC Just out of curiosity, what are recommended, effect deer fence heights
in UK. In the east for our white tail populations 8ft. (2.44m) is considered
necessary. 2m might work if there are other obstructions on the deer's side.
So could you do a no-permission 2m fence and a combination of plantings or
shorter fences in from of it?

SC Our planning regs in US are much more local and on residential land
frequently have limits on fence heights. Where deer are a problem there are
often exceptions made on application, particularly if the deer fence is more
see through mesh than fortress perimiter in appearance.
